By completing this course, participants will gain the basic knowledge of numeracy to solve basic mathematical equations, complete mathematical calculations in the correct order, understand and calculate fractions and percentages for workplace situations, calculate and convert common units of measurement, track production data, and calculate averages. Learning Objectives:

Upon completion of the Numeracy course, participants will have learned:

  • Why numbers and math are important to completing job tasks;
  • What signed numbers are and how apply basic mathematical equations involving signed numbers;
  • How to apply mathematical equations within common workplace situations;
  • The use of math rules contained within the Order of Operations when resolving mathematical equations;
  • About fractions, and how to compare, add, subtract and multiply fractions;
  • About percent, and how to calculate the percent of a number;
  • The most common units of measurement within the Canadian metric system;
  • Equations for converting from one measurement to another;
  • Workplace problem solving steps to define options for resolving issues;
  • How to convert metric units of measurement to United States system;
  • How and why production data is tracked for the department, team, and employee;
  • How to calculate averages of production data;
