Promotion and marketing mix or promotional plan can include personal selling, advertising, sales promotion, direct marketing, and publicity. Promotion is one of Marketing’s famous 4Ps (Product, Price, and Place being the other three.) A promotional mix, or a promotional plan, can include up to five elements: personal selling, advertising, sales promotion, direct marketing, and publicity. A promotional mix lays out how much priority to put on each of those five subcategories and also how much money to assign to each subcategory. Priority will vary depending on the strategic objectives behind the project.  Objectives can include increasing sales, market or competitive positioning, promotion of brand equity or building the corporate image.
