The food label is a direct means of communicating product information between buyers and sellers- helping consumers differentiate between individual foods and brands. There are several acts governing labelling and packing of products. This section provides a general outline to the Canadian packaging and labelling requirements for prepackaged consumer food products which are subject to the federal Consumer Packaging and Labelling Act and the Consumer Packaging and Labelling Regulations.
